Capitals Acquire Left Winger Dustin PennerPosted on March 04, 2014 by Ken Maguire
The Washington Capitals have added size at left wing by acquiring veteran Dustin Penner from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the NHL Draft in June.
Penner, who is 6-foot-4 and 247 pounds, has two Stanley Cup rings (Anaheim, 2007; Los Angeles Kings, 2012).
The NHL's trade deadline is 3 p.m. March 5. The Capitals announced the Penner trade March 4.
Penner has 13 goals and 19 assists during 49 games with Anaheim this season. His best season was 2009-10, when he compiled 32 goals and 31 assists with the Edmonton Oilers
The draft pick originally belonged to Anaheim. The Ducks sent the pick to the Capitals in September in exchange for center Mathieu Perreault.
Penner's $2 million contract will expire after this season.
Don Geronimo's return to WJFK didn't last long. Officials from CBS Radio D.C. confirmed in early March that Geronimo was off the station for good.
