Nationals Sign Manny Delcarmen To Minor League DealPosted on December 02, 2013
The Washington Nationals have reportedly signed right-handed reliever Manny Delcarmen to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.
Delcarmen spent the entire 2013 season with Baltimore Orioles Triple-A affiliate Norfolk. He finished 3-3 with a 2.83 ERA during 48 games. Delcarmen hasn't pitched in the major leagues since 2010. He spent time in the Seattle Mariners' farm system in 2011, and signed a minor league deal with the New York Yankees in 2012.
He spent six seasons with the Boston Red Sox and another with Colorado. Delcarmen has pitched in 298 major league games and has a career record of 11-8 with a 3.97 ERA and three saves. He has also struck out 249 batters and walked 135.
Rick Snider says that if the Redskins' top players aren't afraid of sanctions by Mike Shanahan and his staff, then the coaches are losing the team.
